Samwer brothers launch online luxury shopping clone

So the Samwer brothers haven’t cloned any US companies recently, but at least there’s some activity.

Rocket Internet’s online shopping platform Zalando recently softlaunched, an online shop that targets the interesting – but hotly contested – luxury segment.

You can now buy expensive cocktail dresses, bags and shoes from luxury brands like Chloé, Moschino, Cavalli, Ralph Lauren, DKNY and others. Zalando already offered a “premium” platform for designer clothes and accessories, but Emeza should be even more exclusive.

Being a Samwer product, it’s no wonder that the look and feel closely resembles other industry leaders like French luxury e-tailer (and Zalando admits as much: “this is our answer to net-a-porter”).

Handelsblatt notes that the move into luxury didn’t come unexpected for Zalando, as luxury concern PPR (Gucci, Puma, Yves Saint Laurent) invested € 10 million in Rocket Internet, the Samwer brothers’ holding company that is a shareholder in Zalando.
