Wow! Rovio announced more than 260 million active users on Twitter11 Jan, 2013
Wow, Rovio just announced that they have 260 million active users. No intention of stopping there, they say.
Over 260 million active users for our games means one thing: We’re not stopping here! Thanks everyone! #quarterofabillion

Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka said at Slush that Rovio wants to become “the first entertainment brand with one billion fans”. He added that this should be easy, because Coca-Cola already has that number of fans and “they’re just a soft drink.”
Rovio is one of those companies that’s a walking business school case.
Rovio took a while to gather steam (Angry Birds was its 52nd game), but in the last years, they
- consistently crushed the App Store charts,
- partnered with NASA and CERN,
- rolled out hugely successful brand extensions (toys, candy, coffee) and
- recently announced a movie to be released in 2016
Not your mama’s movie either, but with top class talent like John Cohen and David Maisel (Iron Man) is executive producer. Instead of partnering up with a seasoned Hollywood player like Disney, Rovio announced that it would make and finance the film itself.
