Jolla is talking to KPN about release of Sailfish device in the Netherlands

More news about Jolla’s devices: in an interview with Tweakers at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Jolla sales director Mikko Pyykkö said that Jolla is currently talking to KPN about the release of its Sailfish device. The Netherlands will likely be the third market where a Sailfish device is released, said Pyykkö, after China and Finland.

“We are talking to [KPN] and it’s looking good. We want to release Sailfish in the Netherlands because it’s a country where people adopt new technologies and platforms early.”

Sailfish is the proprietary OS that Jolla is developing. It’s an OS that builds on Nokia’s Meego  Harmattan, which was discontinued. The first Jolla device is expected before the summer of 2013but the OS will also be used by other device makers, who can add their own ‘skin’ to it. The other device makers are ‘familiar names’, according to Pyykkö, without specifying who they were.
