Here’s how Mobitto describe themselves in a PDF:
Mobitto is a mobile lifestyle app that rewards people by shopping the things they like the most. Focusing on customer loyalty & user engagement it provides the tools to improve the way people interact and engage with their favorite brands and venues. The company was founded in June 2011 by José Simões and Diogo Teles soon after it was accepted to StartupBootcamp (TechStars affiliate) accelerator program. Early 2012 Mobitto ran a closed pilot in Lisbon (Portugal) that eventually led to the current concept. Mobitto is a trademark owned by Mobile Hangar, which is funded by serial entrepreneur Ruben Dias and soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Basically, it’s a location based mobile deals app – this is how The Next Web describes Mobitto: “[Mobitto] is setting out to change the way people consume goods and services forever, letting consumers check offers on a map, by category or by browsing through active or used deals. It lets users see what deals are nearby, identified by the type of offer, and users can see how much time is left on the deal.”
Cristiano Ronaldo knows a thing or two about making big exits (or at least: making one for others): in 2009 he was sold by his then club Manchester United to Real Madrid for € 91 million, making him the most expensive soccer player of all times.
