Chad Fowler joins 6Wunderkinder management

Chad Fowler, formerly senior VP of technology of the daily deals site LivingSocial, will join the 6Wunderkinder management team as CTO (Chief Technology Officer).

Prior to that, Fowler was Chief Technologist at InfoEther, a Ruby and Ruby-on-Rails consultancy. Fowler also hosted and organized numerous tech conferences and wrote “The Passionate Programmer”, a career guide for software developers.

From the press release:

“We have been admirers of Chad’s work for many years now and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome him to the 6Wunderkinder family. Chad brings with him a wealth of experience, not only as one of the most experienced and visionary Ruby and Rails engineers, but also as an incredibly talented author, educator, leader and manager.” said Christian Reber (photo), 6Wunderkinder, Founder and CEO.

“With Chad’s unparalleled track record there is no doubt that he is the right person to further lead our technology development at this time of enormous opportunity. Our focus is to become the clear category leader in task management, and we believe now more than ever, that we have the right team in place to quickly make this a reality.”

As CTO Chad also forms part of the 6Wunderkinder Management Team. Along with Christian Reber (Founder and CEO), Steffen Kiedel (CFO) and Benedikt Lehnert (CMO) he will be responsible for devising and managing the overall ongoing strategy of the company.

“I am really excited and happy to join the amazingly talented 6Wunderkinder team,” said Chad “I have been a Wunderlist user since the very beginning and I am in awe of all that they have achieved today. Not just in terms of technical and business achievements but also with regards to the team and community they have built. Now, I get to be part of the team and help shape their exciting future.”

6Wunderkinder also announced today that its newly released Wunderlist2 application has been now downloaded by more than 1 million people, attracting “more than half a million registered users”.

Fowler will work from the Berlin headquarters, 6Wunderkinder told us. We were curious about this, because the company told Whiteboard recently that they would expand to the US soon. They also told us then that any additional financing rounds would be with US investors.

(updated) 6Wunderkinder confirmed that they’re still planning to open a US office somewhere in 2013, but Fowler “will be based in Berlin full time”.
