BMW strikes a partnership with mobile parking payments app

14 Mar, 2013

BMW i Mobility Services announced that it signed an agreement with Estonian tech company NOW! Innovations. For BMW i, the partnership allows it to extend its ParkNow service from off street parking (parking garages) to on-onstreet parking.

Now! provides mobile payment and billing solutions for parking services. It’s a SaaS that allows cities and parking operators to add mobile phone payments to their existing parking system and to implement an Intelligent Parking System which should result in higher efficiency and lower costs.

The Now! platform supports a wide selection of command channels, including SMS, QR codes, NFC and RFID. It also supports almost all the major payment channels like debit and credit cards, direct debit orders, PayPal and others.

BMW i Ventures is already quite present in the parking app space:  beyond ParkNow, it owns two parking services: Park@MyHouse is an online marketplace that links up vacant parking facilities with drivers seeking a parking space. Parkopedia is an app for finding parking spaces in 30 countries and draws on a database of thousands of parking spaces and parking garages.

NOW! Innovations is an Estonian startup launched in 2003 . 50 % of the company was acquired in 2006 by Helmes, the largest software provider in Estonia. In February 2011, it raised € 1.5 million to support its expansion and platform development.
